Canada loses champion stallion

Perennial Canadian champion Bold Executive was put down at Gardiner Farms in Ontario on Monday.  He was 27.

Bold Executive (Bold Ruckus) topped Canada’s leading sire list six times and has been represented by 420 winners including Canadian champions Blonde Executive, Sand Cove and Simply Lovely.

Despite advancing years, he covered 40 mares this year and 38 of them are in foal.  He supplied the top priced colt and filly at last month’s Canadian-bred yearling sale.

Bold Executive was trained by Gerald Belanger and was a G1 winner of the 1986 Coronation Futurity Stakes at Woodbine.
