Champions Gallery will become the first son of red-hot sire Dansili to stand in Australia when covering his first book at Neville Bell’s Kilto Park in Queensland this year. He will stand at a $2,750 service fee.
Champions Gallery (Dansili – Pure by Slip Anchor) was bred by Middle Park Stud and sold for 120,000gns to clients of trainer David Ellsworth. He was quickly out of the blocks winning a 2YO maiden second time out at Salisbury.
Elsworth brought him back at three to win two competitive handicaps at Ascot and Beverley. At four he was shipped to Hong Kong, where he was G1 placed in the Hong Kong Derby behind Vital King and Floral Pegasus.
“Dansili is doing a phenomenal job and, like his own sire Danehill, gets two-year-olds, three-year-olds, sprinters and stayers,” Kilto Park’s Neville Bell said. “He can emerge as a sire of sires as well and, in Champions Gallery, we have the first of them for Australia.”
Dansili is a son of the legendary Danehill and stands at a fee of 65,000 pounds at the Juddmonte Farms in the UK. He is the sire of 7 Group 1 winners and 42 stakes-winners overall. His most recent G1 gallopers have been last month’s G1 King George winner Harbinger and Ballydoyle’s last start G1 Phoenix Stakes winner Zoffany.
Champions Gallery is a half-brother to the winners Angel Annie (Alzao) and Clueless (Royal Applause) and their dam Pure is a sister to English Oaks and St Leger winner User Friendly.
“Champions Gallery showed plenty of ability in Hong Kong, but suffered a tendon injury after the Derby and was sent to Australia for rehabilitation,” Bell added. “He eventually went back into work with Tony Vasil but was retired after aggravating the tendon injury.”
Champions Gallery is owned in the same interests as Widden sire Lucky Owners and they have decided to give Champions Gallery a similar opportunity and will be supporting him with their own mares.
He will stand alongside Ombra Della Sera at Kilto Park which is situated at Caboolture. A son of Brave Warrior, just like Show A Heart, Ombra Della Sera has sired 61 winners including last start winner Renezma. The Troy Hall trained filly will attempt to make it two on the trot at the Sunshine Coast this Sunday.
