Comfysofa sustains winning strike-rate

Comfysofa is doing a super job for his connections while sustaining a 50% winning strike-rate.

Comfysofa (5g Comfy – Sophie’s Waltz by Poliuto) was dropping back in grade and distance when a convincing winner of the Download TAB Touch Hcp (1400m) at Ascot on Saturday.  It was his 6th win in 12 starts for Oz Racing’s Bruce Saxild and Mungrup Stud owners Gray and Jan Williamson.

The big chestnut had set the pace in the G3 R J Peters Stakes (1500m) last month but was swamped in the final stages to finish sixth, albeit only a length and a half from the winner Kerrific.

“He’s building up a marvellous record,” Gray Williamson said.  “The final 100 metres just saw him out in the Peters.”

Comfysofa’s latest victory completed another rewarding day for Mungrup Stud.  “We didn’t have any negatives when the mares were tested yesterday,” Williamson explained.  “It’s been an exceptional season with our stallions.  We’re more than happy with Dick Turpin and can’t wait to see them hit the ground.”

Among Dick Turpin’s first foals this season is a half-brother to Comfysofa’s dam Sophie’s Waltz and G1 Railway Stakes winner Old Fashion (Metal Storm).
