Commands leads opening hours at Magic Millions National Sale

A filly foal by Darley sire Commands topped the leaderboard after the first 100 lots went through the ring at the Magic Millions National weanling sale on Wednesday.

The filly was purchased by David Hayes for $130,000.  Commands got her from Moonee Valley winner Satnav (Canny Lad).

The mare’s has a 2yo Fraar filly named Fiesole on the books with Hayes at Euroa.  Her yearling is a filly by Churchill Downs.

A High Chaparral – Stella Doro filly from Range Park was next best at $120,000.  She was purchased by Victorian based Darren Dance of Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock.  Her dam is a Kiwi bred mare and her only foal to race Cheeky Red (Volksraad) has won twice in New Zealand.

Widden sire Northern Meteor was the most popular among first-season sires when his colt from Zouzou made $85,000.  Offered by Racetree, the colt is from a winning Redoute’s Choice mare.

The clearance rate for Lots 1 to 100 was 71%.
