Coolmore foals dominate Day 2 at Magic Millions National Sale

A filly by in-form young sire Fastnet Rock topped Day 2 of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale at the Gold Coast on Thursday.

Offered by Coolmore Stud, the Fastnet Rock – Satin Robes filly was knocked down to VCB / Garry Cuddy for $185,000.  “She’s a good sized filly from a former good sprinting mare and is by a stallion who can’t do much wrong,” Cuddy said.  “She has a lot of things going for her and our clients are very happy to have bought her.”

Coolmore Stud also sold two other foals for $150,000.  The Encosta de Lago – Suppose colt was bought by Ryanco P/L and the Henrythenavigator – Bush Honey filly went to Edward O’Dwyer.

Over the past two days, 281 weanlings have changed hands for $7.35 million at an average of $26,274.

“Today’s session was slightly better than yesterday,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox said.  “Most vendors met the market in what has been a tough sale so far.”

Cox said the absence of traditional supporters – mainly New Zealand buyers – due to the high Australian dollar was having an impact on prices across the board.

Friday’s non-select third and final session of the National Weanling Sale begins at the Gold Coast complex from 10am (Qld time).  The Magic Millions National Broodmare Sale commences on Sunday.
