Coolmore Stud pensions Peintre Celebre

Peintre Celebre, the 1997 Arc de Triomphe winner, has been pensioned by Coolmore Stud.

The 20 year-old son of Nureyev shuttled to Australia for five seasons until 1993 and sired local Group 1 winners Bentley Biscuit, Mr Celebrity and Mr Sandgroper.

His international winners at the elite level include Byword (Prince of Wales’s Stakes), Castledale (Breeders’ Cup Mile), Collection (HK Gold Cup), Dai Jin (German Derby), Jam Alley (South African Guineas) & Pride (Grand Prix de Saint Cloud).

His daughters foaled Protectionist and Red Cadeaux to fill out the Melbourne Cup quinella on Tuesday.

Peintre Celebre (USA) has most recently been based at Coolmore’s Castlehyde Stud.  “He has been a wonderful sire over the years and will see out his retirement here,” manager Joe Hernon said.  “However, it’s time for a younger horse to take his place on the roster and we’re delighted to welcome Galileo’s son Kingsbarns for 2015.”
