Cost effective sprinter by Danrich

Didntcostalot has continued his fine form since joining the Tony Gollan stable with a convincing two-length victory in the Aitkenvale Health Centre Hcp (1200m) at Doomben.

Saturday’s win was his third from five starts in the Sunshine State since transferring from Marc Conners.  The Danerich sprinter showed brilliant speed to lead and never looked like being headed to give Tegan Harrison an armchair ride.

“The secret to Didntcostalot has been to adopt the same tactics we employ with Rocket To Glory,” Gollan said.  “He likes to bowl along and has been running the opposition into the ground.”

Didntcostalot (7g Danerich – Costi by Encosta de Lago) began his career blitzing a Wyong maiden by five lengths in a track record 62.32s for 1100m.  He races for Vern Rayner’s Classic Bloodstock and has now won 9 times in 35 starts earning over $385,700.

His dam Costi also has a Danerich 2yo named You Wan Sum with Cranbourne owner-trainer Darryl Horner and a yearling colt by Cardinal Virtue.

Danerich was one of Danehill’s fastest sons winning the McNeil Stakes at Caulfield and Mitchell McKenzie Stakes at Moonee Valley.  He has sired over 120 individual winners at a 60% strike-rate led by Melbourne stakes winning sprinters Lord Of The Sky and Richie’s Vibe.

Rangal Stud owner Eric Buttler stands Danerich for an $8,800 (inc gst) fee.

Danerich doubled up on Sunday when Romantic Cash went back-to-back in the Kwun Tong Hcp (1200m) at Happy Valley.

Romantic Cash won his first start last season before spending the remainder of the term sidelined with a tendon injury. Trainer Danny Shum believes the lay-off means there is still some upside for the five-year-old in Hong Kong.

“That was only his sixth start so he’s still getting better,” Shum said. “He was a lot fitter today and you can feel him growing in confidence.”

Romantic Cash (5g Danerich – Homeland Sheila by Keltrice) is from a very successful Rangal Park family. His dam is a sister to Flemington stakes winners Northeast Sheila and Dashing Granada and a half-sister to Kablammo (Marauding).
