Cox Plate campaign for So You Think?

Aidan O’Brien has raised the possibility of So You Think returning to Australia for a third Cox Plate campaign.

O’Brien said there were several options for So You Think following his outstanding victory in the Coral-Eclipse (2000m) at Sandown on Saturday.

The Ballydoyle boss said targets included the King George, Irish Champion Stakes and Juddmonte International.  “He could even have a break now and be trained for the Cox Plate,” O’Brien said.  “Hopefully, we will come up with the right plan.”

So You Think was installed a 5-2 favourite for the Arc de Triomphe after he defeated 2010 Arc winner Workforce on Saturday.  But Ladbrokes – regarded as having close ties to Coolmore – did not quote him in their market for the Longchamp feature.

Coolmore already has Group 1 stars St Nicholas Abbey (Coronation Stakes) and Pour Moi (English Derby) lined up for the big middle distance races later this year.

So You Think (5h High Chaparral – Triassic by Tights) restored his reputation at Sandown after a last-start loss in the G1 Prince of Wales Stakes at Royal Ascot.  “He is a horse that gets 2000m but has a miler’s pace,” O’Brien claimed.  “With his speed, the sky is the limit.”

O’Brien rates So You Think as potentially the best he’s ever trained.  The Kiwi bred champion was originally prepared by Bart Cummings to win 8 of his 12 starts in Australia including two Cox Plates.

Owner Dato Tan Chin Nam sold a controlling interest to Coolmore Stud after he finished third in the 2010 Melbourne Cup.

So You Think will emulate legendary galloper Kingston Town with a third Cox Plate win this year.
