Cracking filly from Dawson Stud

Crack The Code has notched another interstate juvenile victory for Dawson Stud in Melbourne.

The WA-bred filly won the $100,000 Living Legend Graham Salisbury Stakes (1100m) at Flemington last Saturday.  She got up in the last stride on debut for trainer Mick Price and Australian Thoroughbred Bloodstock manager Darren Dance.

Dawson Stud proprietor Graham Daws also bred and part-owns last-start Randwick feature winner Paquirri (G3 Kindergarten Stakes).

Crack The Code (I Am Invincible) is the final foal of his outstanding mare Most Secret (Bletchley Park) who was Listed winner of the 1996 Gimcrack Stakes, Queen’s Plate and Supremacy Stakes at Ascot.

Most Secret has been represented by three stakes winners including Covertly (G1 Railway Stakes) and her final foal is a black-type winner in waiting according to Dance.  “I’ve been talking to Mick off and on for years about racing horses and I said to him, ‘When I send you one, it will be a good one so you’re just going to have to wait’.”

Daws sold Crack The Code through Yarraman Park at the Gold Coast Magic Millions last year.  “She’s just a lovely filly with such a good temperament,” Dance added.  “She just walked around the sales like she had been there all her life.

“I paid $170,000 which was probably a little bit more than I wanted to, but that’s what happens if you want them and she delivered today.

“I was really impressed with the way she travelled and finished off the race.  Mick said if she handled the straight she would be hard to beat, but you just never know at Flemington the first time.”

Daws has maintained links with Most Secret through her daughter Secret Mak (Lonhro) who foaled a Magnus filly first-up last October.  He also raced Pinjarra winner War Of Whispers (War Chant) in partnership with Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers and she’s in foal to Gingerbread Man off a maiden cover last September.
