Creativity’s first-up victory at Caulfield could be the catalyst for a Group 3 assignment in Adelaide on May 19.

The EZ Racing mare was on her best behaviour in $100,000 L U Simon Builders Hcp (1200m) on Saturday.  Breaking on terms for Damien Thornton, she travelled on the bit behind the leaders before sprinting clear in the straight.

Trainers Mat Ellerton and Simon Zahra have been patient with the daughter of Greta West Stud sire Master Of Design – she had surgery for a chipped knee and had been sent back to the trials after refusing to enter the gates at Flemington on New Year’s Day.

Creativity was booked in for a refresher course with Julien Welsh at Pakenham and he started from scratch to mend her manners.  “She used to have a blindfold and a stallion chain but went into today’s race naked,” Ellerton said.  “She was stakes placed at two and hopefully we can win a black-type race this prep.

“She’s a super mare and it’s great to see her back in the winner’s circle.”

The Group 3 Proud Miss Stakes (1200m) in three weeks is a suitable fit and a win at Morphettville will increase her residual value for owners Barrie and Midge Griffiths.  She was a $160,0000 buy for the Seymour couple at the 2015 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale.

Creativity is a younger half-sister to Adelaide stakes-performer Comearoundsundown.  Their dam Voltara (More Than Ready) had a yearling filly by Toronado sell to Sheamus Mills Bloodstock (FBAA) for $120,000 at the 2018 Inglis Melbourne Premier.

Greta West studmaster Laurie McCarthy reports the Kuroshio half-brother to Group 1 star Le Romain, that was passed-in for $100,000 at Melbourne Premier last month, has been syndicated to clients of trainer Kris Lees.
