The Mick Price trained Crossley will eventually want further than 1200m but he can win over the distance first-up in the Essendon Chrysler Hcp (Race 3 at 7.45pm AEDT) at Moonee Valley on Friday night.
Crossley (3c Elvstroem – Prenuptial by Take Your Partner) is resuming after a 14 week spell. He was given two outings during a light spring campaign starting with a brilliant victory over 1400m at Seymour on September 17.
Crossley was elevated to Listed company in the Doncaster Stakes (1410m) at Flemington a fortnight later. The gelding was beaten seven lengths by the winner Tickets but Price had already tipped his hand by going straight from a provincial maiden to race at headquarters on Turnbull Stakes day.
Crossley was a $130,000 buy from the Blue Gum consignment at the 2008 Inglis Melbourne Premier Sale. Blue Gum retained a share in the colt who is by resident sire Elvstroem.
Crossley is the fourth winner from as many to race from Prenuptial who won the Listed AJC Angst Hcp at Randwick. She is a sister to G3 Hong Kong winner Winning Partners and a half-sister to G3 Tasmanian Derby winner Moonah Brooke (Kingdom Bay). Third dam Good Exchange (Better Boy) is an unraced half-sister to Marscay.
