Holdontoyahorses maintained her unbeaten record with an effortless victory in the Thomas North Plate (1100m) at Caulfield on Saturday. The Mick Price trained sprinted to a winning lead at the furlong to defeat Flor Do Mar (Dash For Cash) and Redangelo (Testa Rossa).
Holdontoyahorses (2f Dane Shadow – Dorothy Dinosaur by Canny Lad) had won on debut at Seymour last month and improved again on her home track second-up. “I was expecting a big run after she worked really well on Tuesday,” winning jockey Damien Oliver said. “She showed a nice turn of foot and might be a chance for the Blue Diamond.”
Holdontoyahorses was passed-in for $47,500 at the 2010 Inglis Classic yearling sale. Dane Shadow upgraded the bottom half of her pedigree. Her dam Dorothy Dinosaur retired a maiden after 17 starts and there’s no black-type to speak of in her immediate family.
Dorothy Dinosaur’s first foal to race is the Barb Joseph trained Fill The Page (Dane Shadow) who was an unlucky runner-up at Queanbeyan when last seen in October. The mare has a yearling filly by Dane Shadow and she foaled a colt by Myboycharlie in September.
Kitchwin Hills sire Dane Shadow has two yearlings catalogued for the Magic Millions and another nine for the Inglis Classic starting on January 23.
