Danehill Dancer became the first son of Danehill to sire 100 stakes winners when Latin Love won the LR Platinum Stakes at Cork on Monday.

Latin Love (3f Danehill Dancer – Ho Hi The Moon by Be My Guest) is owned by Coolmore’s John and Susan Magnier and is trained by their son-in-law David Wachman.  She had been stakes placed at the her previous start in the LR Kilboy Estate Stakes at the Curragh last month.

Danehill Dancer has shuttled between Coolmore’s Irish and Australian bases since 1997 and he is having a tremendous run, even by his own standards, in both hemispheres this year.

His European bred three year-olds Mastercraftsman (2000 Guineas) and Again (1000 Guineas) completed the G1 Irish double in May.

In Australia, his G1 winners are headed by Choisir, Private Steer and current star Light Fantastic.  The Mick Price trained gelding headed Danehill Dancer’s Australian black-type honour roll in 2008-09.  It also included Indian Ocean, Bhutane Dane, Go Cart, Lorne Dancer, Moatize, News Alert and Prima Nova.

Danehill Dancer, out of the Sharpen Up mare Mira Adonde, was Ireland’s Champion 2yo in 1995 after winning the G1 Phoenix Stakes at Leopardstown and National Stakes at the Curragh.  He finished the year with a two-length second to Alhaarth in the G1 Dewhurst Stakes at Newmarket.

Danehill Dancer is now 16 and Coolmore will restrict his shuttling days sooner rather than later.  His Hunter Valley fertility has dipped below 80% in recent years.   Danehill died aged 17 in May 2003.
