Danpegi an astute buy for Dan Love

High-profile owners Keith Biggs and Rod Russell weren’t the only celebrating after Rose Of Choice won the LR Jungle Dawn Classic (1400m) at Ascot.

Bunbury breeder Dan Love joined the chorus when the mare made it 4 wins from 5 starts this season on Saturday.

Rose Of Choice (4m Choisir – Danpegi by Fusaichi Pegasus) is from a family that has accumulated generations of black-type going back to 1983 WA Oaks winner Lowanna Rose (Medal).

Lowanna Rose is the second-dam of Rose Of Dane (Danehill) who won races for Lou Luciani and Lee Freedman carrying the familiar pink and blue colours owned by Biggs.  She was runner-up to Bomber Bill in the 1998 Karrakatta Plate and followed him east to win the LR Summoned Stakes at Sandown.

Rose Of Dane foaled four winners including WA Guineas runner-up Lauradane (General Nediym) and Rosehill winner Danpegi.

When Love began expanding his bloodstock portfolio two years ago, his purchases included 10 year-old mare Danpegi.  She has a yearling colt by Saxon and is back in foal to Famous Roman.

Love also stands Famous Roman with Rivercrest Park studmaster Steve Hoare in the south-west at Stratham.

Famous Roman (Danetime) won the G2 Lee-Steere Stakes and G3 R J Peters Stakes.  In the latter, he broke the long-standing State record for 1500 metres clocking 1.26.39s.

Famous Roman’s oldest progeny are yearlings and he is available for a $1,100 (inc gst) service fee at Rivercrest Park.  Broodmare owners can contact Hoare on 0409 987 970.
