New Zealand based stallion Danroad sired his first northern hemisphere winner when Farmer Giles scored a six-length victory at Ripon on Thursday.

Danroad (Danehill – Strawberry Girl by Strawberry Road) shuttled between Highview Stud in NZ and Rathmuck Stud in Ireland.  He was the second Leading Colt on the 2001 New Zealand 2yo Free Handicap before retiring to stud in 2004.  He won the G2 Challenge Stakes at Trentham and was also placed at G1 level.

Farmer Giles (2c Danroad – Demeter by Diesis) was bred by the Hong Kong Breeders Club and cost 46,000 pounds at the 2008 Doncaster Bloodstock St Leger Sale.  His dam is a daughter of Irish 1000 Guineas winner Nicer.

Danroad has already made an impact with his first southern hemisphere juveniles.  They include G1 T J Smith Classic winner Rockdale and NZ G2 winner Down The Road.
His first southern crop sold to $100,000 in 2007 and the second crop reached $140,000 at the 2008 Karaka Yearling Sale.
