Dark Alert tops Perth Winter Sale

Pinjarra Cup winner Dark Alert topped Sunday’s Perth Magic Millions Winter Sale when making $70,000 to the bid of Joe Miller and his son Ben.

A son of Testa Rossa, he was sold by Peters Investments. “We will put him a paddock for a month,” Joe Miller said. “Then we will bring him back for another crack at the summer carnival.”

The Top 10 priced lots in the racehorse section of the sale were offered by Peters Investments. Group 3 Roma Cup winner Battle Hero was next on the leader-board at $60,000 to Black Type Bloodstock.

A Deep Field filly topped the foal section of the auction at $40,000. From Tiger Hill mare Cattalo, she is a half sister to stakes performer Tobique and was sold to NSW buyer Bob Dawson.

A colt by Widden Stud freshman Your Song topped the Winter Yearling Sale when selling for $35,000. Consigned by Western Breeders Alliance from a Flying Spur half sister to Atlante, he was purchased by leading trainers Grant and Alana Williams.

Trade reached $994,000 for the 146 lots that changed hands at an 85% clearance rate.
