Group 1 winning Randwick miler Kermadec has joined the Darley Kelvinside roster in the Hunter Valley.
The Chris Waller trained stallion is from the first Australian-bred crop of Teofilo and made $260,000 as a yearling at the 2013 NZB Karaka Premier Sale. He claimed the G1 Doncaster Hcp at three and added a second victory at the highest level in the G1 George Main Stakes with no fewer than five Group 1 winners behind him at weight-for-age.
“Kermadec is Teofilo’s best son and we are thrilled to stand him alongside his father at Kelvinside,” Darley’s Alastair Pulford said. “Teofilo has quickly become a global star and we are very excited to have him returning to Australia this season as are many of our clients.”
Teofilo sired the Darley newcomer from Randwick stakes winner Hy Fuji (Fuji Kiseki). She is a half-sister to the dams of Triple Elegance (G3 Liverpool City Cup), At The Heads (LR Chester Manifold St) and Shoreham (LR Galilee Series Final Hcp).
“Kermadec was a horse of exceptional quality who was able to win a Group 3 on VRC Derby day at Flemington at just his third start,” Pulford added. “He went on to win two of the best Group 1 mile races in Australia and only Winx denied him a third win at the elite level in George Ryder last month.”
Darley will stand Kermadec for a $22,000 (inc gst) service fee.
