Darley sire wins North American freshman title

Darley sire Offlee Wild has won a nail-biting finish to the North American first-season sires’ premiership.  In 2009, his progeny earned US$1,951,283 to finish $608 in front of Roman Ruler.

Offlee Wild’s leading juvenile this year has been Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies winner She Be Wild.  He has sired five stakes horses plus several with immense potential including Belmont winner Middle Of The Nite.

Offlee Wild stands with Australian shuttlers Any Given Saturday, Bernardini, Hard Spun, Henny Hughes, Street Cry and his sons Street Boss and Street Sense at Darley’s Lexington base.

He owns a stallion’s pedigree being by Wild Again who won the very first Breeders’ Cup Classic at Hollywood Park in 1984.  His dam is a Seattle Slew half-sister to leading sire Dynaformer.

Offlee Wild won a 2yo maiden at Churchill Downs and graduated to a G3 win at Gulfstream Park (Holy Bull St), a G2 at Suffolk Downs (Massachusetts Hcp) and a G1 at Belmont (Suburban Hcp) before retiring to Darley.

Offlee Wild will stand for a $7,500 service fee in 2010.  He finished a close second to Giant’s Causeway in the overall North American 2yo sires’ premiership.  The Coolmore sire topped the table with earnings of $2,040,071.
