Dash For Cash broke through the 200 winners barrier in the New Year and his talented filly Oceanica added her name to the total at Wyong on Wednesday.

The Swettenham Stud sire has now been represented by 201 winners of 526 races at a 58% strike-rate.

Oceanica (3f Dash For Cash – Carolyn’s Star by Peintre Celebre) caught the eye with a powerful finish to score a half-length victory in the Steve Hart Photographics Maiden (1600m).  “She’s got a very bright future,” trainer Joe Pride claimed.  “She sustained a long run and was still strong to the line.  I’ve got every faith in this filly.”

Oceanica is bred to get over more ground than a mile.  Her dam is a half-sister to G1 Queensland Derby placegetter Set Up (Spinning World) and second dam Mapperley Heights (Sir Tristram) was a G1 winner of a South Australian Derby.

It’s the famed “Heights” family that has generated numerous Group 1 winners out of New Zealand.

Mapperley Heights was raced by Swettenham founder Robert Sangster and she was also G1 placed in the 1983-84 editions of the VRC and AJC Oaks and the 1984 Melbourne Cup behind Black Knight and Chagemar.

Dash For Cash cracked the double century of winners when Fast Bucks broke his maiden at Bairnsdale on January 2 for owner-trainer Tracey Templeton.

Dash For Cash has four yearlings nominated for the Inglis Melbourne Premier next month starting with Swettenham’s grey colt (Lot 151) from an unraced daughter of G3 Adelaide Guineas winner Nina Haraka.
