A Fastnet Rock half-brother to Group 1 star Whobegotyou has topped the first session of the Magic Millions National Weanling Sale.

Offered by Murrulla Stud, the colt was purchased by Sydney agent James Harron for $400,000.  “He’s extremely well bred,” Harron said.  “He’s by a champion sire and is a horse that could make a lot more money as a yearling.”

His Japanese bred dam Temple of Peace (Carnegie) has foaled four winners headlined by $3.26 million earner Whobegotyou.

Amarina Farm snapped up a couple of exciting prospects including the second top seller on the day – the Not a Single Doubt – Wilde Irish Song (Magic Albert) colt from Bell River Thoroughbreds for $280,000.  He’s the first foal of a winning half-sister to G1 AJC Oaks winner Once Were Wild.

One of the day’s other top sellers was the I Am Invincible – Radiant Star colt also from the Bell River Thoroughbreds that was purchased by Sheamus Mills Bloodstock for $250,000.  “I thought he was one of the nicer colts in the sale,” Mills said.  “He’s by a proven sire who’s a horse on the up.”

“We will re-offer the horse.  When you’re buying blue chip they stay blue chip.  He’s a nice horse who can come back here and hopefully make $400,000 or $500,000.”

First-season sire Zoustar had two colts sell for $250,000.  The Armanjena colt from Kambula Stud sold to Amarina Farm, while James Bester secured the Sun Maid colt from the Bell View Park Stud.

“I loved him and thought he was the best of the Zoustars,” Bester said.  “He’s an outstanding walker with a great physique and a deep pedigree.”

The Day 1 turnover of $8.30 million for 152 lots sold at an average price of $54,625 off a clearance rate of 84%.
