Day 1 Magic Millions QTIS Sale – Average climbs 36%

A Real Saga half brother to Saturday’s impressive Gold Coast winner Siegfried topped Day 1 of the Magic Millions QTIS Sale at the Gold Coast on Monday.

Trade increased across the board with turnover soaring 57% on an average that climbed 36% to $28,686.  The clearance rate increased 11 points to 75%.

The Real Saga colt made $110,000 and he will join the stables of Siegfried with Australasian Thoroughbreds manager Jamie Bourke confirming he will be prepared by Toby Edmonds.  “We are a brand new syndication company – in fact our website only went live this week,” Bourke said.  “We have purchased some lovely horses and this colt is a welcome addition to the team.

“We have a few trainers including Toby, Tony Gollan, Kelly Doughty and Clarry Conners.  There are some lovely horses available for syndication and this colt was probably the nicest Real Saga in the Sale.”

The Glenlogan Park stallion got the session-topper from the 100% winner producer Classic Covet (St Covet).  She is a half sister to Affirmed Classic and is from the stakes winner Classical Band (Master Derby).

Second top priced lot was Lyndhurst Stud’s Sequalo – Bye Bye Diamonds colt who was knocked down to Grandview for $90,000.  He is out of a winning sister to Mozzman Park and half sister to stakes winner Direct Sign.

“It’s been a phenomenal start – the strength of the Sale has been the middle market,” Magic Millions managing director Vin Cox said.  “Racing in Queensland is in a really good space at the moment which is reflected in the results.”
