Day 2 Perth Magic Millions – Oratorio tops leader-board

A colt by champion Mungrup Stud sire Oratorio (Aus) topped the Day 2 of the Perth Magic Millions yearling sale on Wednesday.

The colt, from the former smart Umatilla racemare and proven city producer Rumours, was purchased by leading trainer Trevor Andrews from the Mungrup draft for $75,000.

A half brother to the city winners Secret Enigma and Rumoured and four time Singapore winner Joyous Express, the colt is from a half sister to the winning dam of Singapore champion Given Vision.

The colt was one of 148 lots to be sold during a day in which $3.13 million changed hands at an average price of over $21,200.  The clearance rate of 76 % was 8 points up from last year.

The second top price today was for the Blackfriars-Arcade Game colt from Bellbridge Park who was purchased by Grant Williams for $58,000.

Local buyer Gavin Foster went to $55,000 to secure Yarradale Stud’s War Chant filly from Pretentious, continuing that sire’s momentum from Tuesday.

First season sire Demerit made his presence felt with one of his youngsters, a colt from Tribal Conquest selling to Commercial Bloodstock Services for $52,500.

The same price was given by Hong Kong’s Joseph Choi for a colt by Nadeem from the draft of Gold Front Thoroughbreds.
