The final session of the Inglis Great Southern Sale rounded off four days of excellent results at Oaklands Junction with a 72% overall rise in turnover to $8.53 million.
The Yearling and Racehorse Session on Wednesday was topped by Royal Standing from Contract Racing. The three year-old son of Stratum was last seen in the G1 Victoria Derby and was purchased by one of his owners to dissolve the syndicate.
South Australian-based Hancock Quality Bloodstock (FBAA) paid $87,500 for Fastnet Rock mare Scarlet Moretta from the draft of Stonehouse Thoroughbreds.
Adrian Hancock also purchased another of Stonhouse’s offerings when paying $25,000 for the city-winning four-year-old mare Marmelo (Duke Of Marmalade).
Lindsay Park Racing sold all 10 of their lots topped by the Fastnet Rock mare Hennessy Rock secured by Glenelg Park for $67,500.
“It was very satisfying to finish the sales season on such a buoyant note,” Inglis Victorian director Peter Heagney said. “From the weanlings and broodmares right through to the racing stock, there was good competition and the sale finished with excellent results in all sections.”
