A diverse international buying bench helped post increases across the board during the second session of the Magic Millions National Yearling Sale on Wednesday.

Wrapping up the select component of the yearling sale, a further 15 yearlings were sold for $100,000 or more, bringing the figure to 30 for the past two days.

A well bred colt by Onemorenomore topped proceedings when selling to John Thompson for $300,000.  He is a half brother to the Thompson-trained stakes winners Longport and Run for Wilson.

Longport was sold to Brisbane based trainer Dan Bougoure for $800,000 at last week’s National Broodmare Sale.  Next best on the leader-board were the Husson – Sun Classique colt for $260,000 and the Stratum – Sarvon filly for $250,000.

The trio were all part of the latest Patinack Farm reduction.

Broadwater Thoroughbreds sold a New Approach colt from Vachere for $175,000 and agent John Foote bought Mellum Park’s Exceed and Excel colt from Silken Song for $160,000.

The select section grossed over $12.75 million and the average of $39,976 was up 20%.  “It was more of the same from yesterday,” Magic Millions Managing Director Vin Cox reported.  “The most rewarding part of the sale was the strong participation of buyers, particularly those from abroad.”

A general session of yearlings will start Friday’s auction before the National Racehorse Sale.
