Storm Crossing brought a winning bid of $75,000 from Ashview Farm to top Day 9 trade at the Keeneland November Sale on Wednesday.
Storm Crossing (2f Tiznow – Storm Alert by Storm Cat) was consigned by Lane’s End as agent and was sold as a racing or broodmare prospect. She is a half-sister to this year’s G3 Inglewood Handicap winner Utopian (Rock Hard Ten) as well as the stakes-place fillies Indy Trouble (A.P. Indy) and Temper Temper (Empire Maker).
Lane’s End also sold stallion prospect Machen (Distorted Humor) who was next best on the leader-board at $70,000. He bowed out of racing with a G3 Derby Trial victory in 2011 as part of a 5-3-0-0 career card.
Machen is out of G2 winner Ready’s Gal (More Than Ready) and is a three-quarter sister to G2 winner Ready to Please (More Than Ready). He hails from the family of classic-winning champion and sire Hansel (Woodman) and was purchased by J. Michael Baird.
On Wednesday, 254 horses sold for $2.87 million when the average dropped 35% to $11,308. The sale concludes on Friday.
