Deep Impact dominates JHRA yearling sale

Shadai Stallion Deep Impact provided the most sought-after lots at the JHRA Select yearling sale in Hokkaido on Monday.

The Deep Impact colt out of G2 winner Shes All Eltish (Eltish) topped the session selling for the equivalent of AUD 1.96 million.  “The price is more than I thought it would be,” winning bidder Riichi Kondo said.  “But I really wanted him.”

Another Deep Impact colt from G1 winning mare Persistently (Smoke Glacken) sold for AUD 1.85 million.  He was purchased by Takaya Shimakawa who was the under-bidder on the Shes All Eltish colt.

Both colts were offered by Katsumi Yoshida’s Northern Farm.  Deep Impact colts from G3 winner La Boum (Monsun) and G1 winner Ave (Danehill Dancer) were next best at AUD 1.19 million.

Trade reached AUD 67.45 million for the 226 lots hat changed hands at an 88% clearance rate.  The average was AUD 298,488.

A sole Fastnet Rock colt was bought by Kaneko Makoto Holdings for AUD 544,380 .  He is from Sadler’s Wells mare May Kiersey, a three-quarter sister to English Derby winner Pour Moi.

Snitzel had three colts and two fillies sell for a total of AUD 446,390.  Top priced was the colt out of Snapshot (Sunday Silence) that cost Yusuke Hoshino AUD 141,538.
