Desert Prince relocates to France

Former Woodlands Stud shuttler Desert Prince will serve under a fifth flag when he transfers to France in the New Year.

Apart from shuttling to Australia until 2004, he has also been stationed in Ireland (National Stud), Germany (Gestut Isarland) and Italy (Scuderia Andy Capp).

Now an 18-year-old, Desert Prince (Ire) will move his tack to Haras du Thenney in Normandy.

Desert Prince (Green Desert) was a Group 1 winner of the Irish 2000 Guineas, Prix du Moulin and Queen Elizabeth II Stakes in 1998.  His best European bred progeny have been G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Mail The Desert and 2009 Melbourne Cup placegetter Mourilyan.

In Australia, he sired Group 1 winners Outback Prince (QTC T J Smith Classic) and Kusi (MRC Blue Diamond Stakes).

The 2013 Haras du Thenney roster included Cima de Triomphe (Galileo), Gentlewave (Monsun) and former Hunter Valley shuttlers Dr Fong (Kris S) and Orpen (Lure).
