Swettenham Stud has 18 foals catalogued for the Inglis Great Southern Sale and the majority are by its resident sires Equiano (Fr), Americain (USA) and Master Of Design.

Incoming operations manager Jason Robinson has only just come on board at Swettenham and he hit the ground running from Nagambie to Oaklands this week.  Among those with most parades is the Master Of Design colt from Delcosta Diamond catalogued as Lot 233.

“He’s well put-together with a deep girth and strong hindquarters,” Robinson said.  “He’s a loose-walking colt and looks a real athlete.”

Delcosta Diamond (Encosta de Lago) is a daughter of Delilah, a Group 3 winner at Royal Ascot and Gulfstream Park.  She was by Swettenham champion Bluebird and was trained by Sir Michael Stoute for Highclere Thoroughbreds.

Master Of Design (Redoute’s Choice) has sired first-crop Flemington stakes performers Creativity & Kinetic Design and his second crop averaged $75,000 at the Melbourne Premier yearling sale in March.

His third-crop will be targeted by those with an eye to the 2017 Melbourne Premier.  The pin-hooking market continues to expand and the Master Of Design foals will look value when his three year-olds emerge in the spring.

Master Of Design has been solidly booked by breeders since retiring to Swettenham.  He won the G1 T J Smith (1200m) at Randwick in a time only bettered by Black Caviar and his fee remains at $15,000 this year.
