DGR Thoroughbred Services (FBAA) has finished in the Top 10 on Day 1 of the NZB Premier Sale with 4 buys totalling $1,005,000.

Among the quartet targeted by DGR principal Duncan Ramage was the $475,000 Frankel colt from Curraghmore Stud.  He also had the final call for colts by Pins and Power plus a Redoute’s Choice filly from G2 Sir Tristram Classic winner Kaatoon.

The Frankel – Give Me Five colt is a half-brother to Colour Vision (G1 Ascot Gold Cup) and will be trained by James Cummings.  “We are delighted that he’s been purchased by Duncan Ramage,” Curraghmore’s Gordon Cunningham said at Karaka on Monday.  “And he will get his chance with James Cummings.”

John Chalmers (FBAA) was prominent early in the opening session with a $210,000 bid for a Savabeel filly from Waikato Stud.  Catalogued as Lot 6, she is from G2 NZ International Trophy winner Villifye (O’Reilly).

Chalmers also bought a Savabeel-Classy Choice filly from Monovale Farm as well as two fillies by Reliable Man for a total spend of $610,000.

Mark Pilkington Management (FBAA) weighed in with $200,000 for an Exceed And Excel-Devil’s Song filly related to G1 NZ Oaks winner Vapour Trail.  She will join the team at Lindsay Park.

Pilkington followed up with $155,000 for a Pierro – Briolette colt from the extended Eight Carat family.
