Diamonds are trumps at Moonee Valley

Coolmore sire Choisir claimed his second $250,000 MVRC Inglis Banner when Diamond Earth opened proceedings on Cox Plate day.

Diamond Earth (2f Choisir – Face Of The Earth by Strategic) is trained by Anthony Cummings and was a $60,000 buy at the 2011 Inglis Classic yearling sale.

In addition to $145,000 prizemoney and trophies, owner Geoff Coady also received a $50,000 sales voucher for a Super VOBIS qualified yearling at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne yearling sales.

“She had shown plenty of talent back home and that’s why we brought her down here,” Cummings said at Moonee Valley.  “She galloped nicely here on Tuesday and the addition of blinkers also gave her that extra bit of confidence.”

Diamond Earth shares the same sire as inaugural Inglis Banner winner Starspangledbanner.

The Sydney filly is from stakes placed mare Face Of The Earth who is a half-sister to Cornerstone Stud sire Face Value (Red Ransom) and recent Caulfield winner Halle Rocks (Fastnet Rock).

Choisir has also sired one of Italy’s leading juveniles this year.  Choisir Shadow has won the LR Premio Eupili and LR Criterium Nazionale at her two most recent starts in Milan by a combined margin of seven lengths.
