Distorted Humor tops Florida 2YO Sale

Jess Jackson outbid several rivals to buy a Distorted Humor colt for US $2.3 million at the Fasig-Tipton Calder 2YO Sale in Florida on Tuesday.

The chestnut colt is out of G1 Ruffian Hcp winner Tomisue’s Delight (A.P. Indy) and had worked 200m in 10.6 seconds at the pre-sale breeze-ups.  His dam is a sister to US Horse of the Year Mineshaft and half-sister to Racetree sire Monashee Mountain.

Jackson owned 2008 US Horse of the Year Curlin and he also races champion filly Rachel Alexandra.  “We’ve got good horses at the farm and we didn’t want to have to run against him,” Jackson’s bloodstock advisor John Moynihan said.

The one-day sale saw a healthy increase in average from $235,595 in 2009 to $257,473 yesterday.  The median increased 33% to $200,000.
