Divertire has notched her first win for new trainer Joe Pride in the La Gioconda Hcp (1600m) at Wyong.
The Econsul mare scored by a half-head on Sunday after taking the length of the straight to collar Bermuda Blu. She was previously prepared by the late Guy Walter and has now earned over $170,000.
“Joe has done a terrific job with this mare and she was cherry ripe today,” jockey Kathy O’Hara said. “She always showed a bit of promise with Guy and she will go further. She’s a much stronger mare this time and I think the best is yet to come.”
Divertire (5m Econsul – Paris Sweep by End Sweep) had won her first race at Randwick in April 2013 and doubled up at Warwick Farm and Randwick earlier this year. She is from a half-sister to Champion South African 2YO Colt Rarotonga Treaty and cost $21,000 at the 2011 Inglis Melbourne Autumn yearling sale.
Econsul is covering his second book in Western Australia for a $4,400 (inc gst) service fee at Darling View Thoroughbreds in Mundijong.
