Vinery stallion Testa Rossa sired another two juvenile winners in Sydney and Perth on Wednesday and the double helped him reach 200 wins in Australian this season.

The double century won’t be the only career-high for Testa Rossa in 2009-10.  He only needs another $6,000 to break the $6 million mark in earnings before the season ends on Saturday night.

Wednesday’s double also wrapped up a very productive season for his first crop of two year-olds bred in the Hunter Valley.  His colt Testarhythm looked a very promising type winning on debut at Canterbury and later in the day Auburn Streak broke through at Belmont.

Testarhythm (2c Testa Rossa – Dancing Bridges by Danske) is prepared by Darren Smith and he lit up the Canterbury meeting that was abandoned after five races due to the state of the track.  The Newcastle based colt skimmed over the wet surface to win the Freeway Hotel Texas Poker Maiden (1200m) by two lengths.

“He was a standout as a youngster and has developed into a lovely colt,” Smith said.  “He will keep progressing through his classes.”

Widden Stud catalogued Testarhythm at the 2009m Inglis Classic yearling sale and cost Smith $110,000.  His dam Dancing Bridges was a Canterbury juvenile winner and she was also stakes placed twice at Warwick Farm.  

Dancing Bridges is a half-sister to the NZ stakes performers Te Akau Rose (Thorn Park) and Alberton Princess (Golan).  Second dam Straussbridge (Straussbrook) was a Listed winner of the Counties Challenge at Pukekoe.

Auburn Streak broke through for a deserved win in the Westspeed Nursery Hcp (1000m) at Belmont on Wednesday.  She was coming off a close second to Cold Handel earlier this month but had excuses because the saddle slipped in running.

Auburn Streak (2f Testa Rossa – Amineh by Secret Savings) is prepared by Aquanita trainer Simon Miller and the breaks went her way on Wednesday courtesy of a rails run in the straight.  “I was a good win because she didn’t appear to be travelling in the run,” Miller explained.  “But she kept on kicking in the straight and proved too strong for them.”

The winner was the first leg of a double for Miller and owners Adrian Britt, Tracey Fox and Cape Falls Thoroughbreds.  Their Danetime mare Timely Queen also won later in the day.

Auburn Streak was a $28,000 buy for WA agent Michael Flannery at the 2008 Magic Millions National weanling sale.  She was offered by Luskin Park and is from a winning half-sister to iron-horse El Maze (El Moxie) who won 15 races to Group 3 level in Adelaide and Melbourne.  Amineh has a yearling colt by Vinery sire Mossman and she was covered by Statue Of Liberty last year.

Testa Rossa has been represented by the Group 1 winning mares Ortensia and Rostova among 15 stakes performers in 2009-10.  He will stand for a $44,000.(inc gst) service fee at Vinery this year.
