Dr Fong transfers to Turkey

Former Widden Stud shuttler Dr Fong (USA) has been transferred from France to stand in Turkey.

Now aged 18, the son of Kris S was trained by Sir Henry Cecil to win the G1 St James’s Palace Stakes at Royal Ascot in 1998.  He retired to stand at Side Hill Stud and Highclere Stud before moving to Haras du Thenney in 2009.

Dr Fong shuttled to Widden for three seasons until 2002.  He started at a $15,000 service fee but wasn’t embraced by Australian breeders – averaging books of 50 mares.  He sired 41 winners out here headed by the Listed winners Dr Nipandtuck (2007 VRC The Straight Six) and Right Fong (SAJC Port Adelaide Cup).

Dr Fong’s British-bred stock includes the G1 winners Aoife Alainn (Italy), Ask For The Moon (France) and Shamdinan (USA).  He is also the damsire of this year’s French 2000 Guineas winner Style Vendome.
