Dream result at Bendigo

Tasmanian bred gallopers completed a Victorian feature double this week when Dream Pedlar won the Listed Bendigo Cup on Wednesday.

Dream Pedlar (6g West Quest – Unamah by Top Avenger) defeated NZ bred gallopers My Bentley (I Conquer) and Zauberin (Zabeel) in a hectic finish to the $150,000 event.

The Bendigo result came just four days after Lady Lynette (Ladoni) scored a Group 3 victory in the Tesio Stakes at Moonee Valley for trainer Scott Brunton.  The Tasmanian mare won the Cox Plate day feature for the second year in a row.

Dream Pedlar is prepared by Troy Blacker and he had won the $50,000 Gold Nugget at Ballarat on October 6 before running a good fourth to Ginga Dude in the G3 Coongy Hcp on Caulfield Cup day.

He captured the Listed Tasmanian Stakes last December and followed up with placings in the Hobart and Launceston Cups before campaigning on the mainland.

Dream Pedlar is by Grenville Stud sire West Quest (Gone West) who has won the last five Tasmanian sires’ premierships.

Lady Lynette is by Armidale Stud stallion Ladoni (Danehill).  Armidale has catalogued a Ladoni half-brother to Dream Pedlar at the 2011 Tasmanian Magic Millions.

The Tassie contingent can land another feature during Flemington’s four-day carnival.  Brunton will nominate Lady Lynette for the G2 Matriarch Stakes (2000m) on Saturday week, November 6.

Lady Lynette was beaten a nose and a nose when third to Purple and Moment In Time in last year’s Matriarch.
