Oaklands Stud stallion Chateau Istana signalled he will be a force among freshman sires this season when Daydreamer was successful in the XXXX Gold Maiden Plate (850m) at Toowoomba on Saturday evening.
Daydreamer (2f Chateau Istana – Claire’s Vision by Marwina) is trained locally by Mark Webb and had been unlucky on debut in the Fitton Hopeful Plate last month. She was always well-placed second-up to a narrow victory over Spring Rose (Nadeem) and Falisaty (Falvelon).
Bred and sold by Sleepy Hollow Farm, Daydreamer carries the colours of Oaklands Stud owner Neville Stewart. “We’ve been getting some great feedback about Chateau Istana from trainers,” Stewart said. “And I know Mark (Webb) has a good opinion of Daydreamer and some of his other two year-olds.”
Chateau Istana (Grand Lodge) was a G2 winner of the Flying Childers Stakes at Doncaster before transferring to Hong Kong where he won races as Chateau King Prawn. He stands for a $7,700 (inc gst) fee at Oaklands.
Daydreamer’s dam Claire’s Vision was a Sydney winner and she has already foaled winners by deceased Oaklands Stud sires Lion Hunter and Tsuimai.
