Redoute’s Choice stallion Drumbeats has been signed to stand at Lyndhurst Stud in Queensland. He will stand at a fee of $7,700.
Drumbeats (5h Redoute’s Choice – Delicate Choice by Last Tycoon) caught the eye from the outset. Woodlands paid $350,000 for him at the 2007 Inglis Easter yearling sale and he showed immediate ability for Darley.
Trainer Peter Snowden always had a high opinion of Drumbeats. “He has a great attitude and was a very talented horse with a tremendous turn of foot!”
Drumbeats was placed at Flemington in his only outing as a two-year-old and returned at three to finish a game second in the G2 Roman Consul Stakes at Randwick.
Back in Melbourne, Drumbeats found plenty of trouble in the Listed Gothic Stakes before storming home for a half length second to subsequent G1 Australian Guineas winner Heart Of Dreams. He broke through at Listed level at only his fourth start in the Springtime Stakes.
Given the autumn off, Drumbeats reappeared the following spring and defeated Rangirangdoo second-up in the G2 Shannon Stakes.
He was competitive in the best of company and was a close up fifth in the G1 Epsom Handicap, fourth in the G1 Doncaster Handicap, third in the G2 Theo Marks and third in the G2 Crystal Mile on Cox Plate Day.
And during his final campaign last spring, he added to his already impressive tally with a soft two length victory in the G3 Bill Ritchie Handicap.
Drumbeats is one of an incredible 20 winners from 22 runners bred on the successful Redoute’s Choice – Last Tycoon cross. Among them are black type winners Dariana, Shaaheq, Estee, Lucky Unicorn and Provence.
Redoute’s Choice is emerging as an influential sire of sires with seven of his sons – Stratum, Snitzel, Not a Single Doubt, Nadeem, Bradbury’s Luck, Al Samer and Coats Choice – siring stakes winners.
Last Tycoon is also proving his worth as a broodmare sire with a mammoth 122 stakes winners including 24 G1 winners headed by last season’s Horse Of The Year Typhoon Tracy and globe-trotting G1 winner Sun Classique.
Drumbeats is from Delicate Choice, a half-sister to Delta Form who was a stakes winner in South Africa and USA. Second dam Arborea was the best filly of her generation winning the G1 VRC Oaks and MRC One Thousand Guineas.
Lyndhurst boasts a long and strong record of standing outstanding stallions from Smokey Eyes, Hail To Success, Head Over Heels and Grand Chaudiere to Celestial Dancer, Canadian Silver, Sequalo and Hidden Dragon.
