Dubai Destination colt firing in England

Firebet will embark on a Group campaign after winning the JRA Stakes (2000m) at Epsom Downs on Monday.

Firebet is an Irish bred son of Darley shuttler Dubai Destination and was back in winning form at the Bank Holiday meeting after finishing second to Harbinger in the G3 Gordon Stakes at Goodwood Cup in July.  Earlier this year he had completed a winning hat-trick at Nottingham, Ayr and Newmarket.

He will return to Ayr for the Doonside Cup on September 19.  Part-owner Norman Steel said, all going well, the colt would then be set for a Group 1 or Group 2.

Firebet (3c Dubai Destination – Dancing Prize by Sadler´s Wells) was a 50,000 euros yearling at Goffs in October 2007.   He is half-brother to 7 winners including the useful middle-distance trio of Dilshaan´s Prize (Dilshaan), Seeking The Prize (Zafonic) and Special War (warning).

Dubai Destination (Kingmambo) was a G1 winner of the Queen Anne Stakes at Royal Ascot and shuttled to Darley for five seasons until 2008.  His oldest southern hemisphere bred progeny are new-season four year-olds and, to date, he has sired 39 winners at a 40% strike-rate.

His only black-type performer in that line-up is the Nick Moraitis owned Dubai to Sydney who showed plenty of potential when placed in the 2008 Skyline Stakes (LR) and Pago Pago Stakes (G2).   He failed to live up to that promise in six outings as a three year-old but is back in work with Joe Pride at Warwick Farm.
