Dylan Thomas strikes in Ireland

Coolmore freshman Dylan Thomas struck with his first runner when Snowflake Dancer won the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden Stakes at Dundalk on Friday.

Snowflake Dancer (2c Dylan Thomas – Snowy Day In La by Sadler’s Wells) got up in a four-way finish for trainer Jim Bolger and owner June Judd.

Bred by Barronstown Stud, the winner was an 11,000 euros buy at the Goffs Orby Sale in September 2010.  He is from a half-sister to Kistena (Miswaki) who defeated her stablemate Anabaa in the 1996 running of G1 Prix de l’Abbaye.

Coolmore’s homebred Dylan Thomas juveniles are pleasing Aidan O’Brien.  The Ballydoyle boss has 11 of them in work.  “They’re training well and I really like them,” O’Brien said.  “They could be anything.”

Dylan Thomas (Danehill) retired to stud as a six-time Group 1 winner including the coveted Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe.  He was crowned Horse of the Year and Champion Older Middle Distance Horse in Europe in 2007, and Champion 3YO in Ireland.

Two of his first southern hemisphere bred yearlings sold for $240,000 at the NZ Bloodstock Premier Sale in February.
