Floral Dynamite continued his amazing run of success when Hayley Rose stormed home to win at Ashburton in New Zealand on Sunday.
The son of Danehill stands at Tareena Stud which is situated on the Manning River south west of Taree in NSW.
Floral Dynamite has now sired five winners from just six starters this season. And four of those five winners – Floral Insight, Hayley Rose, Nitroson and Analie’s Daughter – have saluted at least twice.
Floral Dynamite raced in Hong Kong and won in each of his 2yo, 3yo, 4yo and 5yo seasons. He won from 1200m to 1800m and some of his best efforts came when stepped up to 2000m.
He was also runner-up to Perfect Partner in the G1 Hong Kong Gold Cup (2000m) and Vengeance of Rain in the G1 Centenary Vase over the same distance at Sha Tin.
Tareena studmaster Ian McRobert reflected on a conversation he had with a mare owner who booked a service to Floral Dynamite. “He called up out of the blue and, while we were talking stallions, I asked him what initially triggered his interest in Floral Dynamite.
“He said any horse that can race on for four seasons in Hong Kong must be tough. They don’t have the agistment properties we have in Australia and the racing is very competitive.”
“He is a wonderful horse to work with,” McRobert explained. “He goes about his business in the barn with a minimum of fuss. His foals also have that kind nature.”
Floral Dynamite stands for a $3,000 (inc gst) service fee alongside former Darley sire Manton who is priced at $5,000 (inc gst).
Manton (Danehill) is also making headway with seven winners from his first crop. He is a brother to top West Australian sire Blackfriars and was a G2 winner of the 2006 Tulloch Stakes at Rosehill.
The first Manton stakes winner arrived last month when Darley filly Disputes scored a Listed victory in the LR Reginald Allen Stakes at Randwick.
Darley also provided Manton with his first ever winner last December when Graskop saluted at Sandown Hillside. She was also stakes placed in the LR Blue Diamond Preview in January.
Allgraceful won on debut at Cranbourne in May for Patrick Payne and his most recent winners have been Sincero’s stablemate Bizarre Clarice and the Mick Tubman trained filly Mick’s Mantle.
Tubman enjoyed the ride with flying filly Chance Bye last year and he will set Mick’s Mantle for the 2012 ATC Oaks.
