Eagle Mountain book boosted by G1 winners

The initial NZ book for Brighthill Farm’s exciting newcomer Eagle Mountain will include 10 mares owned by Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa.

Brighthill Farm’s Nick and Anne-Marie King are currently syndicating a 40% interest in Eagle Mountain who arrived at the Tauwhare-based farm two months ago.  “He has really started to let down well,” said Nick King.  “He really is a good looking, athletic animal and he has a lovely temperament.”

Eagle Mountain competed at Group level in the UK, Ireland, France, USA., Hong Kong and UAE and achieved earnings of over US$2.4 million.  He won the G2 Curragh Beresford Stakes (1600m) at two and the G2 Royal Whip (2000m) at three and at four.  He climaxed an successful international career when storming home to claim the G1 Hong Kong Cup (2000m).

He also won the G3 Joel Stakes (1600m) on the Rowley Mile at Newmarket in track record time of 1.34.07s and was G1 placed in the Epsom Derby, Irish Derby, Champion Stakes and Breeders’ Cup.

Eagle Mountain is by the G1 sire Rock of Gibraltar out the Darshaan mare Masskana who is also dam of the Champion French 2YO Sulk.

Sheikh Mohammed bin Khalifa retained a 60% interest in Eagle Mountain and his mares booked in include Futoon (Elusive Quality), Neraan (Elusive Quality) and Al Yamama (Fusaichi Pegasus).

Futoon is a daughter of former top mare Flitter, Neraan is a half sister to Barely a Moment and Al Yamama is a half sister to Von Costa De Hero (Encosta de Lago).

Eagle Mountain will also cover G1 winners Bazelle (Zabeel) and It’s My Sin (Success Express) along with black type mares Country Rose (Centaine), Penny Arcade (Straussbrook) and Winds of Conquest (Quest for Fame).
