Scenic Lodge graduate Easy Snip gave Hong Kong trainer Benno Yung his 300th winner with a narrow victory in the Kam Tin River Hcp (1200m) at Sha Tin on Sunday.
Yung, 64, is in his tenth season with a license after prior stints as assistant-trainer to Tony Millard and John Size. “It’s a good milestone and I would like to thank Easy Snip’s owner Robert Ng. He’s been a great supporter and has never interfered with my decisions.
“I try to keep the horses in good health. That’s my major thing. I believe if they’re in good health, they will win for you. I do my best and endeavour to get the best result for every single horse.”
Easy Snip is a son of former Scenic Lodge stallion Snippetson and was bred and sold by Glenn Martin through the Muchea stud’s consignment to the 2019 Perth Magic Millions. He was purchased by Victorian trainer Patrick Payne for $65,000 and, under his initial name Semenuk, won a Mildura maiden before transferring off-shore.
He’s the final foal of Derring (Redding) and her first was LR WA Carbine Club Stakes winner Zuccheros (Hurricane Sky). It’s the extended family of G2 Karrakatta Plate winner Metal Master (Metal Storm).
Snippetson’s old Scenic Lodge colleague Dash For Cash sired his latest new winner with 3yo filly Pollash in the Thomas Sabo Maiden (1200m) at Pinjarra on Sunday.
Pollash was commencing just her second prep for trainer Martin Knox and she wasn’t for running down despite easing from $13 out to $17 first-up after a five-month spell. Her dam Pollonize (Patronize) also has a yearling colt by Dash For Cash
Dash For Cash has sired 411 individual winners of 1,262 races and among his latest book at Scenic Lodge was Brad McGinty’s mare Lock Away (Blackfriars). She’s also the dam of Dash For Cash’s last-start Ascot winner Cash Away.
