Eclair Mystic on a mission in Macau

Swettenham Stud bred sprinter Eclair Mystic will fly the flag for Australia in the Premier Cup in Macau on November 18.

Victory in the $250,000 event will have a flow-on effect for Swettenham at the 2012 Inglis Melbourne Premier yearling sale.  The Nagambie nursery has catalogued his half-brother by Soldier’s Tale for Oaklands Junction in February.

Eclair Mystic (4g Stratum – Leica Smile by At Talaq) broke his maiden at Seymour last year and then won five of his next six starts at Caulfield and Flemington.

The winning run climaxed with a Listed victory in the Zeditave Stakes at Caulfield in January.  “He’s one tough racehorse,” Smerdon said.  “We were going to set him for the G1 Goodwood but put him away for a winter spell.”

Eclair Mystic returned on Melbourne Cup day with a midfield finish in the LR MSS Security Sprint at Flemington.  He flew out for Macau on Sunday.

The Aquanita flyer is raced by Hong Kong based owner Thomas Li.  Swettenham Stud sold him for $160,000 as a foal at the 2008 Magic Millions National Sale.

Eclair Mystic is one of six winners from six to race for G1 SAJC Australasian Oaks winner Leica Smile.  Yarradale Stud owner Ron Sayers bought the mare’s filly by Soldier’s Tale for $60,000 at the Melbourne Premier earlier this year.

She has been broken in and is currently in training with the Freedman Brothers.

Leica Smile hails from the Group 1 family of Nothin’ Leica Dane, Redding, Leica Show, Pharaoh, Light Fantastic and Leica Planet.
