Mornington trainer Kerry Edwards was confident new stable signing Dangarway could win again at Sale on Thursday.

Unfortunately, the King Of Prussia gelding was a late scratching on the morning of the race.  Edwards noticed he was favouring a leg when she went to fetch him for the float trip to Gippsland.

“At least we didn’t go all the way to Sale and then find that he was proppy,” Edwards said.  “It’s nothing serious.  A couple of days off and he will be fine.”

Dangarway (4g King Of Prussia – Brocco Dancer by Brocco) won races at Cranbourne and Bendigo last year before owner Errol Taylor changed stables.  The move paid immediate dividends when he won at Seymour on June 16.

Lisa Cropp settled Dangarway at the tail of the field in the Chatswood Stud Hcp (1009m) and the fast pace took its toll of the leaders in the straight.  He burst through a gap and kicked clear before holding on to defeat Arnoux (Testa Rossa) and Dante’s Flame (Danzero) in a three-way photo-finish.

“The speed was on from the outset and I guess 1000 metres is probably too short for him,” Edwards admitted.  “Lisa really likes him but he’s a big horse and we have to manage him properly.”

Dangarway was bred by Greta West Stud and is a half-brother to Listed MRC Lord Stakes winner Just Look (Fraar) and Adelaide stakes performer Belleza Veloz (Hemingway).

Their dam Brocco Dancer foaled a Bel Esprit filly last year.

King Of Prussia has sired 50 winners of 79 races so far this season.  That puts him fourth among Victorian based sires for wins behind Bel Esprit, Bianconi and Dash For Cash.
