Elite winner for Keith Biggs

More Than Ready is back in the mix for another Golden Slipper after his filly Elite Falls scored an outstanding victory in the G2 Reisling Stakes at Rosehill on Saturday.

The Vinery champion has won Australia’s premier juvenile event with Sebring (2008) and Phelan Ready (2009) and Elite Falls heads the fillies at $9 in 2011 Golden Slipper betting behind the colts Sepoy ($2.90), Smart Missile ($5.50) and Foxwedge ($8).

Elite Falls (2f More Than Ready – Niagara Falls by Danehill) had been beaten by Satin Shoes in the Widden Stakes and Silver Slipper in February but she turned the tables on that filly when they stepped up to 1200m on Saturday.

“To be honest, I didn’t plan on starting her in the Golden Slipper when she came back into work,” trainer John O’Shea said.  “But she’s definitely up to that standard.”

Elite Falls races in the familiar blue and pink silks of West Australian owner Keith Biggs.  Her dam Niagara Falls was a black-type winner of the Lord Stakes and Carlyon Cup at Caulfield.  She has a Haradasun filly catalogued as Lot 373 at the 2011 Inglis Easter yearling sale.

Biggs bought Elite Falls for $300,000 out of the Turangga Farm draft at last year’s Easter Sale.  She had won the Inglis Banner at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate day before going out for a summer break.

Biggs captured the 1998 Blue Diamond Stakes with Danelagh but hasn’t raced a Golden Slipper winner.
