The Doncaster Premier yearling sales finished on a high during Wednesday’s second session when an Elusive City colt made 120,000 pounds (AUD209,095).  Offered by Hawthorn Villa Stud, he was purchased by Sir Robert Ogden.

The Elusive City colt equalled the top price paid for a Kyllachy filly and a Le Vie Dei Colori colt from Day 1.  Ogden also purchased the Le Vie Dei Colori colt.

Besides the Day 2 session-topper, Ogden also purchased an Oratorio colt offered by Manister House Stud for 110,000 pounds (AUD 192,750) and a Kodiac colt for 105,000 pounds (AUD 183,920).

The overall average of 26,826 pounds (AUD $46,980) was 3% higher than the same figure last year.

“The general consensus is that it has been a resounding success,” DBS Managing Director Henry Beeby said.  “There has been a real buzz around the whole complex and vendors have worked with us to produce a catalogue of consistently racy, commercial individuals.  

“We resisted the temptation to fill up the catalogue when it became clear that some likely candidates needed some extra time following the very hard winter.  That was reflected in a set of figures that have virtually mirrored last year so we have to be happy.”
