Elvstroem sold to stand in France

Blue Gum Farm sire Elvstroem has been sold and will fly to France next month to cover his first northern book at Haras du Petit Tellier.

Elvstroem has been based in Euroa since 2005 when his initial fee was set at $38,500.  He is currently serving his last Victorian book at a $4,400 fee.

The 15-year-old son of Danehill changed hands in a deal brokered by Gavelhouse.  He was bred and raced by Frank Tagg, Garry Moffitt and Frank Meduri to win at Group 1 level in the Victoria Derby, Underwood Stakes, Caulfield Cup, Orr Stakes and Dubai Duty Free.

Elvstroem (pictured) has sired 12 stakes winners headed by last year’s G1 Emirates Stakes winner Hucklebuck.  His brother Gold Centre and half-brother to Haradasun (Fusaichi Pegasus) are both at stud in New Zealand.

Haras du Petit Tellier is located in Lower Normandy and its current roster includes former Australian shuttlers Denon (Pleasant Colony) and Way of Light (Woodman).

Testa Rossa shuttled from Yallambee Stud to Haras du Petit Tellier in 2003 & 2004 and it’s also been home to champions Alleged (Hoist The Flag) and Arctic Tern (Sea Bird).
