Emirates Park has purchased a 50 per cent interest in Artie Schiller and will stand him at its Victorian stud in 2012.
A G1 winner of the Breeders’ Cup Mile, Artie Schiller initially shuttled to Mike Becker’s Independent Stallions at Euroa and he is currently Australia’s leading second season sire.
Artie Schiller (El Prado) was relocated from Pauls Mill to WinStar Farm for the 2012 northern hemisphere breeding season. WinStar Farm also shuttles 2010 Kentucky Derby winner Super Saver (Maria’s Mon) to Victorian based Eliza Park.
Artie Schiller has made a significant impact in Australia and North America in a very short space of time.
His first crop in Australia is headed by Laser Hawk (G1 Rosehill Guineas), Big Chill (G3 SA Breeders’ Stakes), Secret Liaison (LR MRC Twilight Glow Stakes) and Moving Money (LR Tasmanian Guineas).
Artie Schiller’s record in North America is equally impressive with stakes winners Mr Commons (G2 Santa Anita Sir Beaufort Stakes) and Anne’s Beauty (G3 Woodbine Colleen Stakes).
“Artie Schiller’s previous visits have seen him form a very loyal following of Victorian broodmare owners and we are very confident of their support again this season,” Emirates CEO Trevor Lobb said. “When you also take into account the quality of mares we intend to send him, I fully expect Artie Schiller to cover his best-ever book this season.”
Artie Schiller will stand at a fee of $22,000 (inc. gst) at Emirates Park. He covered a full book for $13,200 at Independent Stallions in 2011.
