Equine takeover at Touchstone

Vital Equine heads the Touchstone Farm roster this year and he attracted ‘early bird’ enquiries after siring a double at Belmont on Saturday.

The Irish-bred Danehill-line stallion will stand for a $4,400 (inc gst) fee this year and there’s a 50% discount for bookings until the end of August.  He was a Group 2 winner in England before joining Flying Pegasus (Fusaichi Pegasus) at Touchstone.

Owner Glenn Martin has taken Flying Pegasus off the North Dandalup roster.  The 11 year-old son of Fusaichi Pegasus has been catalogued for the Magic Millions Winter Sale on June 27.

WOMBIE’S LEGACY (4g Vital Equine – Circus Jester by Rory’s Jester) had been runner-up twice last month prior to winning the Barry James Farmer Hcp (1200m) on Saturday.  He kept finding under Mitchell Pateman to defeat Shawshank (Passenger) and Zuccheros (Hurricane Sky).

“He’s been honest right through since his two year-old days,” trainer Joe Miller said.  “It’s good to get a win and it’s good to see him ridden properly.”

Wombie’s Legacy was bred and sold by Mungrup Stud for $24,000 at the 2011 Perth Magic Millions and has banked over $214,000.  He is a younger half-brother to Maxximus Dignitas (Medal Of Honor) who won 5 races and earned black-type when placed in the LR Belgravia Stakes in 2006.

SUJET (3g Vital Equine – Karsavina Star by Corporate Raider) kept his perfect strike-rate alive this campaign on Saturday.  He won fresh from a spell on June 7 and backed up within a week for another impressive victory in the Westspeed 3YO Hcp (1200m).

“He just oozes quality,” trainer Simon Miller declared.  “He thrives on racing – he was 540kg prior to the first-up win and 550kg this week!

“I didn’t want him to clash with our filly Wild Stratus so we were forced into running him twice in a week.  He’s got loads of ability and it’s no secret I’ve got a massive opinion of the horse.”

Manor Park owner David Bishop sold Sujet to Peter Bell and Ray Meadowcroft for $52,000 at the 2012 Perth Magic Millions.  Bishop also has his rising two year-old half-brother by Planet Five with trainer Ben Pearce.

Touchstone Farm stands Vital Equine (Danetime) alongside French Group 2 winner Planet Five (Storm Cat).
