Evans dispersal dominates Day 3 at Keeneland November Sale

Four of the top six sellers on the Day 3 leader-board at the Keeneland November Sale came from the Edward P. Evans dispersal.

The quartet comprised three mares and a weanling colt by Tale of the Cat.

Quiet Now (Tiznow) provided the fireworks on Wednesday when Claiborne Farm made a winning bid of $1.85 million for the six-year-old mare who was sold in foal to City Zip.  She is a half-sister to 2005 Horse of the Year Saint Liam (Saint Ballado).

Quiet Now is also a half-sister to the dam of this season’s G1 Mother Goose Stakes winner Buster’s Ready (More Than Ready).

Minishaft (Mineshaft), a five-year-old mare in foal to Tale of the Cat, brought $620,000.  Already the dam of a weanling colt by Street Sense, Minishaft’s third dam is Flight Dancer (Misty Flight), meaning she also comes from the same family as Saint Liam, Buster’s Ready and Quiet Giant.  The latter two brought bids of $2.4 million and $3 million, respectively, at Monday’s opening session.

Yet another close member of this family from the Evans dispersal, Quiet Flight (Quiet American), sold for $600,000 to Mt. Brilliant Broodmares.  The three-year-old grey filly is a daughter of Misty Dancer (Lyphard), making her a half-sister to Quiet Now’s dam Quiet Dance.  She sold in foal to Quality Road.

Quiet Now’s weanling foal by Tale of the Cat rounded out the top four sellers from the Edward P. Evans dispersal going for $425,000 to Bluegrass Hall.

Wednesday’s trade saw 257 horses bring $32.34 million.  The $125,864 average was up 51%.  The sale continues through to November 17.
